hybrid nature
Buffer Zones, Reinforced Dunes and Urban Wetlands

New York, Wien 2013/2014

The pressing issue of how to deal with the effects of global climate change is an integral part of the speculative project hybrid nature. We propose an investigation of an adaptive reuse of former military vessels to create a buffer zone for the city, it’s inhabitants and it’s surrounding environments. The idea of the reimagined waterfornt is based on the premise of instead of keeping the water out, the infrastructure is designed to let the water in. Due to its speculative approach the project is particulary meant to be a starting point for discussion.
